Fracking in Ohio state parks, Lake Erie would be banned under bill

Democrats say Ohio shouldn’t be extracting oil and natural gas from under Lake Erie or the 76 state parks.

House Bill 399, introduced by state Reps. Tristan Rader, D-Lakewood, and Christine Cockley, D-Columbus, would prohibit fracking or drilling under Lake Erie or any state park. The bill has little shot of moving forward in the GOP-controlled Legislature, which recently green-lighted fracking under state parks.
