Hedge fund manager John Hempton, private equity giant Joseph Skrzynski, Globe International founder Stephen Hill, and share trader Robert Keldoulis are among a score of business people who ploughed millions of dollars into independent campaigns at the last federal election.
The Simon Holmes à Court-backed Climate 200 group raked in $9.5 million in donations ahead of the May poll and donated $10.8 million to 35 so-called community independent, or teal, candidates.
