2025 Gold Glove: Fernando Tatis Jr., Max Fried, Pete Crow-Armstrong among winners with Dodgers, Blue Jays largely shut out
With Major League Baseball’s 2025 campaign in the books, it’s now time to start dishing out the league’s awards.
MLB announced the Gold Glove Award winners for both the American League and National League on Sunday night. The annual award goes to the best defensive players at each position in both leagues, as well as one utility player.

The awards honored some of the best defensive players in MLB, with only a few of the league’s biggest names getting the win. San Diego Padres right fielder Fernando Tatis Jr., who takes home his second career Gold Glove, is one of the bigger names, along with New York Yankees pitcher Max Fried, Kansas City Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. and Chicago Cubs center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong.
The Cubs picked up the most wins of the night, with three members — Crow-Armstrong, second baseman Nico Hoerner and left fielder Ian Happ — taking home the Gold Glove.
Notably, it was not a good night for either of the World Series teams: Despite both the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Toronto Blue Jays picking up a handful of nominations, neither team’s starting lineup ended up with a win. The only player from either team to take home a Gold Glove was Blue Jays first baseman Ty France, who spent most of the 2025 season with the Minnesota Twins; France defeated teammate Vladimir Guerrero Jr. despite being behind him in Toronto’s first base depth chart.
The Gold Glove Awards have been handed out since 1957, with the utility position added in the 2022 campaign. Winners at each position are determined through a vote of managers and coaches in the league. That accounts for 75% of the vote, while the remaining 25% comes from the SABR Defensive Index. Managers and coaches are not allowed to vote for players on their own teams.

The Gold Glove announcements came just a day after the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 7 to win their second straight World Series title. That made them the first back-to-back winner in 25 years.
