KVK Peren organizes livestock training cum input distribution


The ICAR- Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Peren organized a training cum awareness campaign on “Farm to fork approach for strengthening pig and poultry meat value chain and enhancing income of tribal farmers through ICAR technologies & input distribution under TSP” at the Women Welfare Conference Hall, Jalukie, on January 13.
Dr. K. L. Meena, principal scientist & head, KVK Peren, programme coordinator, delivered a speech about the KVK activities & TSP component. He expressed gratitude to the director, ICAR-NMRI, Hyderabad, for extending valuable support to the Peren district farmers. He suggested maintenance of the livestock to achieve sustainable agricultural development, and it will uplift the socio-economic status of the tribal farmers.
In the technical sessions, various topics were held. Dr. L. Babita Devi, CTO-Animal Science, KVK Peren, delivered an interactive session on “Disease management in pigs & poultry.” Z. James Kikon, CTO-Soil Science, KVK Peren, delivered a lecture on “Integrated farming system for livelihood improvement.” Dr. Prashant Kalal delivered a lecture on “Livestock entrepreneurship.” Farmers actively involved in the discussion on animal disease management, the integrated farming system, and good agricultural practices, etc.
Dual-purpose chicks (Vanraja breed) were distributed to all farmers of the Peren district. The poultry chick’s distribution was sponsored by the ICAR- National Meat Research Institute, Hyderabad, under Tribal Sub Plan project.
The programme was chaired by Dr. Prashant Kalal, SMS-fruit science, KVK Peren who delivered a welcome address and vote of thanks by Z James Kikon. The event brought together 107 farmers, including village chairmen and Head Gaon Bura (Head GB).
