Black Hills Energy said Sunday that the natural gas supply is stable amid surging demand during winter weather.
JOHNSON, Arkansas — While this weekend’s winter storm has passed, it leaves behind inches of snow and extreme cold temperatures. This weather is always concerning for homeowners, especially when it comes to staying warm.
Natural gas utilities like Black Hills Energy in Northwest Arkansas said they’re ready for increased demand.
“Our operations crews work all year long to prepare for winter weather, so we’re always ready,” said Robin Mizell, Communications Director at Black Hills.
She said the company has spent quite a bit of money on new equipment and maintenance to make sure there are no outages or service interruptions.
In other words, making sure the natural gas supply doesn’t run out.
“Our team members who work with our gas suppliers every day, but especially in what we call these peak load days… we’re having daily meetings and talking with our large volume customers. We’re ready.”
Mizell said the company has also focused on those customers where the company has had some service challenges in the past. She said there shouldn’t be any issues.
Mizell added that customers can help make this whole situation easier by being mindful of their use.
“We do ask customers just to pay attention with conservation at their own homes. We have some energy efficiency tips really, so it helps you your bill, so you’re not in shock.”
Mizell said if you have a service interruption or a leak to call their helpline right away.
