‘Keep Iowa growing’ | Mike Naig announces official reelection campaign for Secretary of Agriculture

Naig grew up on his family’s farm near Cylinder and has been Secretary of Agriculture since 2018.
DES MOINES, Iowa — Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig has launched his reelection campaign for a third term.
Naig previously confirmed he would be running for reelection when Gov. Kim Reynolds announced she would not run again as governor.
“We’ve grown markets for Iowa products, saved families money at the gas pump, expanded conservation efforts across the state, and protected the livelihoods of those who feed and fuel consumers at home and around the world,” Naig said in a release. “There’s more work to do, and that’s why I’m running: to keep Iowa growing.”
In the campaign announcement, Naig said his top priorities include
- continuing to grow markets for Iowa agriculture
- adopting conservation practices protecting soil and water
- ensuring the next generation sees opportunity in agriculture
Naig grew up in Palo Alto County on his family’s Century Farm near Cylinder.
“Iowa agriculture succeeds when we focus on working together to solve problems, instead of playing politics,” Naig said. “I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished, but we aren’t done yet. I’m excited about the future we’re building for Iowa farmers, families, and communities of all sizes.”
