Virginia State University’s College of Agriculture to host 4th annual ‘AgFest’

ETTERICK, Va. (WRIC) — Virginia State University’s (VSU) College of Agriculture will host their 4th annual “AgFest” celebration next Tuesday.

The celebration will be held in recognition of National Agriculture Day on Tuesday, March 24, at the VSU campus on University Avenue from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

According to the release, the festival is intended to bring students, faculty, local producers and community members together and highlight the role agriculture plays in everyday life.

“AgFest is a powerful reminder of how agriculture connects us all; across generations, communities and industries,” said Erica Shambley, director of marketing and communications for the College of Agriculture.

Shambley added that “Each year, we see students, educators, farmers and families come together to experience agriculture in new ways. It’s not just about farming. It’s about innovation, education and opportunity.”

The 2026 AgFest celebration will include the following:

  • The Trojan Farmer’s Market with local producers from across Virginia
  • Interactive exhibits and demonstrations highlighting agricultural research
  • Engagement opportunities with VSU students, faculty and community partners
  • Farm-to-table food and live entertainment

In 2025, AgFest saw nearly 400 registered attendees, along with additional day-of community participants.

According to the release, the celebration will also provide a hands-on experience for attendees to explore agriculture beyond its “traditional perceptions,” including its ties to science, technology, business and community development.
