
Precious metals continued their march higher Wednesday, with the most-active gold futures contract rising to its 47th record close of the year, according ot Dow Jones Market Data.
That contract ended the day at $4,201.60 a troy ounce. It is now up 59% on the year.
The front-month gold futures contract rose $38.20 per troy ounce, or 0.9%, to $4,176.90 today. That contract has now moved higher in four straight sessions, and 16 of the past 19.
Silver futures also rose to a record Wednesday. The front-month contract gained 1.5% to $51.073 per troy ounce. The metal has gained 76% on the year.
