90% of enumeration of crop damage caused by Montha completed: Director of Agriculture

Agriculture Director Manazir Jeelani Samoon said in a press release that the enumeration of damage to crops caused by cyclone Montha has reached the final stage. It has been completed on 1,24,416 hectares, which is 90% of the primary estimation.

The enumeration process is almost over, and social audits will begin shortly in 19 districts. The impact of the cyclone was severe in Konaseema, Kakinada, Krishna and East and West Godavari districts.

Mr. Samoon said he instructed all district agriculture officers to conduct social auditing immediately after the enumeration process, resolve all grievances within the stipulated time as per guidelines in a transparent manner and with full accountability, and then issue the final approved lists with the approval of grama sabhas.

Further, he mentioned that the officers concerned were ordered to ensure that every farmer who suffered crop damage was included in the enumeration list and to do immediate re-verification of the lists through super-checking with the higher officials after the social auditing was done.
