European Natural-Gas Prices Plunge

Natural gas is vital to the European economy. Prices leapt after Iran said it would close the Strait of Hormuz and again when an Iranian attack cut Qatar’s natural-gas export capacity by 17%, raising fears that high energy-related inflation could soon hit consumers and companies. The latest moves take the benchmark back to early-March levels, below the recent peak but still 56% higher than at the end of last year.
