Tuesday, March 24, marks the 53rd annual National Agriculture Day, coinciding with 250 years of American agricultural progress.
National Agriculture Day offers a chance to deepen public understanding of how food and fiber are produced and to spotlight agriculture’s indispensable contribution to a strong economy. Student participation is an important aspect of the day, “ensuring the next generation remains engaged in advocating for agriculture’s future,” according to Farm Progress.
This year’s theme is “Agriculture. Together We Grow.” Various celebrations and events will take place in farming communities and in Washington, D.C. to mark the occasion.
The annual observance recognizes the farmers, ranchers, and producers who dedicate their lives to feeding, fueling, and clothing the nation. It also encourages Americans to appreciate agriculture’s role in daily life and to consider careers in the industry that helps sustain a growing world.
U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins issued a message to mark the day.
“Today on National Agriculture Day, we recognize the people who make it all possible. The farmers, the ranchers, and the producers who dedicate their lives to feeding, to fueling, and to clothing our nation,” Rollins said.
The observance serves as a reminder that agriculture touches every American every day. It highlights how producers deliver safe, abundant, and affordable food, fiber, fuel, and renewable products while supporting rural communities and the broader economy.
“This is the time to recognize the incredible impact agriculture has on our daily lives,” said Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller.
“The food we eat, the clothes we wear, the flowers we give on Mother’s Day, and the fuel we put in our vehicles are rooted in the same industry, and that’s agriculture. The truth is Texas agriculture matters,” added Miller.
