GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – Today is the second day of the annual North Carolina Commodities Conference, and the first time the event has been held in Greenville.
Established in 1990 and held in Durham since its inception, the conference is a gathering of growers, industry experts, and agri-business leaders.
It’s a way for agriculture sector leaders to come together to learn and share information on the latest trends, tools, and predictions.
The 36th annual conference brings more than 700 people to Greenville, which is estimated to generate over $240 thousand for the local economy.
“With any group of farmers, there is checking in with your neighbor. Especially this year, there is uncertainty in the grains market. The cotton, soybean, and small-grain industries are wondering what we should do with our planting intentions,” said Ray Starling, Chamber of Commerce General Counsel.
The conference highlights included keynote presentations, commodity and legislative updates, sessions and panel discussions, and opportunities to network.
