Ohio has become a hub for energy-driven growth.

America is at a turning point, and Ohio is leading the way

Across the Midwest and throughout the heart of America, a broader industrial and energy renaissance is underway, and Ohio has emerged as one of its most powerful engines.

As the head of JobsOhio recently put it — Ohio is powering America’s energy story.

The Buckeye State is now a hub for energy-driven growth as demand surges. Manufacturing is expanding, data centers are multiplying and industrial investment is accelerating.

The recently proposed multibillion-dollar natural gas power facility in southern Ohio — set to be the largest gas-fired power plant in history — is just the latest example of this momentum, made possible by the state’s strong energy infrastructure.

This progress is no accident. It reflects policies that have made Ohio one of the top five states for business and a national leader in public-private infrastructure investment. Recent legislation, including House Bill 15, which addresses Ohio’s growing energy needs, further strengthens that foundation and encourages continued investment.

Since 2011, this pro-growth approach has driven $111 billion in shale energy investment in Ohio. That rapid growth brings opportunity — and requires responsible development to meet rising demand while delivering for communities, schools, hospitals and businesses.

The question isn’t whether Ohio will turn its energy resources and leadership into new growth. The question is by how much.

The good news is that Ohio is not starting from scratch.

Reliability where it matters most

Today, TC Energy operates approximately 5,000 miles of natural gas pipeline across Ohio, making it the largest interstate natural gas transmission operator in the state. This network delivers more than 1 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day, meeting roughly 30% of Ohio’s total gas demand. It connects critical supply to power generators, local utilities, manufacturers and employers across the state —urban and rural alike.

Storage that keeps costs down and lights on

TC Energy’s roots run deep in Ohio.

Equally critical, though less visible, is underground gas storage. When demand spikes — during extreme cold, heat waves or periods of high electricity use — storage allows energy systems to respond quickly.

TC Energy owns and operates 14 natural gas storage fields in Ohio, accounting for about 70% of the state’s total storage capacity. This storage backbone is a quiet stabilizer for businesses and communities, helping ensure supply is there when it’s needed most.

Built over time, ready now

David Brast, president, U.S. Natural Gas Pipelines, TC Energy.

Ohio’s energy backbone was shaped over generations, not built overnight. Through Columbia Gas — one of Ohio’s most enduring and trusted natural gas systems — TC Energy’s roots in the state run deep. For decades, this system has helped fuel homes, businesses and communities, forming the foundation of the modern energy network Ohio relies on today.

Building on that legacy, since 2015 TC Energy has completed more than $7.7 billion in projects across the Appalachian region, including more than $2 billion invested in Ohio since 2020 to strengthen safety, reliability and system integrity.

Those investments support more than infrastructure. They support jobs, local tax bases and long-term economic resilience. TC Energy delivers natural gas to all major Ohio cities and maintains long-standing relationships with nearly every major in-state utility — relationships built on performance, trust and accountability.

A partner in progress

At its core, this moment is about people. It’s about well-paying jobs for Ohio workers, stable energy costs for families, and the kind of reliable infrastructure that continues to attract investment and keep communities strong.

When Ohio builds on systems that already work, it strengthens its economy from the inside out —creating opportunity at home while reinforcing America’s energy security.

With deep roots in the state and decades of experience delivering for Ohioans, we stand ready to be a partner in progress — powering growth, supporting jobs and helping Ohio move forward with confidence.
