U of I Extension offers new educational opportunity to support women in agriculture

Decatur, Ill. (WCIA) — The University of Illinois Extension is offering a risk management course for women in agriculture.

Women are becoming leaders in the agriculture space, and the program is supporting them through educational opportunities. It’s called Annie’s Project, where participants in the class can become equipped with knowledge to manage risks when they arise. Participants learn in these five areas: financial management, human resource management, legal, marketing, and production.

People can learn from experts and share a bond with other women in the industry. Annie’s Project is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering women to be successful. Douglas Gucker, the commercial agriculture educator at U of I, advocated for the women in the program.

“We’re going to have 10 speakers, and all but one of them will be women in agriculture, so this is women teaching women about agriculture.” Gucker said.

He added that this is an opportunity of a lifetime to support women in the industry. The first session will take place on February 26 and 27.
