With the scheduled retirement of the Comanche Unit 2 fast approaching in Pueblo County, U.S. Rep. Jeff Hurd penned a letter to U.S. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright on Oct. 31.
Part of the coal-powered Comanche Generating Station, Comanche Unit 2 is currently scheduled to close at the end of 2025, although a petition filed with the Colorado Public Utilities Commission on Nov. 10 to extend the coal plant’s life by another year could change that.
