Flutterwave Recognized as Fintech Pioneer at Africa Fintech Summit 2026 – IT News Africa


Flutterwave concluded a successful participation at the recent Africa Fintech Summit 2026 held at the Accra International Conference Centre in Accra, Ghana.

With the theme “Innovating for Inclusive Growth: The Future of FinTech in Africa,” Olugbenga Agboola, Founder and CEO of Flutterwave, received the Fintech Pioneer in Africa Award, recognizing his exceptional contribution to advancing Africa’s fintech ecosystem.

“This recognition belongs to our entire Flutterwave team and our partners who share our vision of simplifying payments and connecting Africa to the global economy,” Olugbenga Agboola commented. “We remain committed to empowering businesses and individuals to thrive across borders.”

Beyond the award stage, Flutterwave’s leadership team was front and center in the Summit’s most forward-looking conversations:

  • Bridgit Antwi, Head of Strategy and Planning, joined the panel “Moving Money, Moving Goods: The Logistics-Finance Connection under AfCFTA.”

Reflecting on the session, she notes: “The future of trade in Africa depends on frictionless movement of goods and capital,” said Antwi. “By integrating payments with logistics, we’re enabling businesses to scale seamlessly across borders.”

  • Geoffrey Fiador, Country Operations and Partnerships – Ghana, contributed to “Africa’s Leadership in Stablecoins – The Whys & Real-Life Use Cases.”

“Innovation like stablecoins can strengthen financial resilience by bridging the gap between traditional banking and digital assets,” said Fiador. “Africa’s leadership in this space shows our capacity for increasing inclusion and stability.”

  • Bright Botchway, Lead, Strategic Growth Initiatives, moderated “Mobile Money—Africa’s Payment Innovation in Action.”

“Mobile money remains Africa’s most powerful tool for inclusion,” said Botchway. “We’re building systems that make digital payments interoperable, secure, and accessible to everyone.”

Adding to the Summit’s energy, Flutterwave hosted the official Happy Hour, bringing together industry leaders, founders, and innovators to celebrate Africa’s fintech success stories and strengthen cross-border collaboration.
