Sunday Supper Launches Equity Crowdfunding on Wefunder With High Early Interest – vegconomist

Plant-based food company Sunday Supper has launched an equity crowdfunding campaign through Wefunder as it continues to grow its footprint in the frozen food sector. The brand, which focuses on vegan Italian comfort food has already secured over $575,000 from individual and institutional investors.

Backed by industry leaders

Notable investors in the company include Ryan Bethencourt, CEO of Wild Earth and a founding partner at biotech accelerator IndieBio; actress and entrepreneur Daniella Monet; and author Gene Stone, known for works such as Forks Over Knives and How Not to Die. The nonprofit ProVeg has also invested.

Founded in Los Angeles, Sunday Supper reports that its products are now available in over 650 retail locations across the United States, including The Fresh Market, Albertsons, GIANT, and Central Market. The company began as a direct-to-consumer (DTC) operation and has since transitioned into retail distribution while maintaining DTC sales.

A sharp rise in retail traction

According to the company, it has achieved 300% year-over-year growth. Sunday Supper attributes some of this growth to strong sales performance from products like its Mozza Fritto, which it says is selling at a rate six times higher than the category average.

Earlier this year, the company appointed a new CEO and Head of Sales alongside the launch of a $2.5 million seed funding round. Soon after, it introduced a new line of single-serve portions of its plant-based entrées.
