The new hire will join the firm’s private investment funds practice in New York.
Global law firm Morgan Lewis has welcomed partner Leonora Shalet to its New York office, where she will advise clients on a range of investment management matters.
Prior to joining the firm, Shalet worked as a partner at international law firm Schulte Roth & Zabel where she advised on investment vehicles, closed-end funds and permanent capital vehicles in the credit space.
Shalet has over 15 years of experience dealing with investment management issues including institutional private credit, private equity and growth equity managers. Her practice spans US and offshore credit funds, hedge funds, perpetual funds, hybrid funds, funds-of-funds, private equity funds, growth equity funds and managed accounts. She guides investment funds and advisers with fund structuring, formation, and ongoing operational needs and advises on general securities laws and regulatory and compliance issues.
Morgan Lewis’ investment management practice leader Timothy Levin said: “Whether the newest fund structures like hybrid funds or more traditional private equity and hedge funds, Leonora’s skillset will be a great addition in areas where we’re seeing an uptick in client activity.” He added: “Additionally, Leonora’s recent continuation fund formation experience will provide a boost to our client offerings in our secondaries practice.”
