Arthur Khaimov is a Tax Director in the in the Real Estate Group with over 15 years of providing tax consulting and compliance services to a broad range of real estate and corporate clients including publicly held real estate investment trusts (REITS), and privately-owned companies. Arthur also has expertise with major public and private mortgage-REITs (mREITs) and debt funds and plays an integral role in the firm’s tax services to such clients.
Arthur’s experience ranges from providing diligent tax compliance and consulting services to REITs including their formation, qualification, operation, and dissolution to partnership taxation issues and income allocations. He also has experience with tax structuring for mREITs with and without securitization vehicles as well as issues involving Excess Inclusion Income, Foreign Withholding requirements and exemptions.
In the mREIT space, Arthur’s experience includes dealing with asset types such as agency and non-agency residential mortgage-backed securities, credit risk transfer securities, commercial mortgage-backed securities, residential and commercial mortgage loans, mezzanine loans, and other real estate related financing agreements. He has also provided tax consultation and due diligence services for private equity and real estate funds involved in business or property acquisitions and dispositions.
Prior to joining the firm, Arthur was an experienced Tax Associate with a Big 4 accounting firm, in the real estate tax group where for three years he was involved in providing tax compliance and consulting services for major private and public companies doing business across the globe.
