Jordan has announced comprehensive measures to maintain stable commodity prices and ensure ample supplies ahead of Ramadan, starting Tuesday. Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh, in a meeting with key stakeholders from both private and public sectors, outlined the government’s strategy to prevent price hikes during the sacred month. The state-run Petra news agency provided details of these initiatives on Sunday.

Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply Youssef Shamali disclosed plans for daily checks on commodity prices and market surveillance to guarantee the uninterrupted availability of essential goods, particularly food items. Furthermore, Minister of Agriculture Khaled Al-Hanifat assured the public of the surplus availability of local produce, including vegetables, fruits, poultry, and meat, all at reasonable prices well within the local market’s demands.

Private sector representatives acknowledged minor disruptions in commodity imports due to recent developments in the Red Sea. However, they confirmed that sufficient reserves are in place to meet the country’s requirements during Ramadan. These steps are part of Jordan’s efforts to ensure that the holy month proceeds smoothly for its citizens without the burden of inflated costs or supply shortages.
