LDA demands steps to reduce commodity prices

Leaders of the Left Democratic Alliance, a combine of six political parties, on Wednesday at a protest rally in Dhaka called for steps to reduce prices of essential commodities.

They said that the Awami League government had failed to control the price hike of essential commodities which increased sufferings of the common people of the country.

The Dhaka city unit of the LDA organised the rally at Karwan Bazar protesting against the price hike of the essentials where coordinator of Dhaka city unit Toimur Khan chaired.

Razequzzaman Ratan, assistant general secretary of the Socialist Party of Bangladesh, said that the Awami League government had failed to control the syndicates, responsible for the abnormal price hike of essential commodities.

He also alleged that most of the syndicates were government-sponsored and so it did not take action against them.

Assistant general secretary of Communist Party of Bangladesh Mihir Ghosh said that common people of the country were suffering much to run their families facing the abnormal price hike of essential commodities.

He called on the government to take immediate action against the syndicates and hoarders regardless of their party affiliations.

LDA leaders Harun or Rashid, Sajedul Huq Rubel, Khalequzzaman Lipon and others spoke at the rally.
