Ammon News – In its session held on Sunday, chaired by Prime Minster, Bisher Khasawneh, the Cabinet reviewed the weekly report of the Ministry of Industry and Trade on the measures taken to limit rising prices and enhance the strategic stock of basic goods and materials.
The Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Youssef Shamali, stated that 1,965 commercial establishments were visited during the period between 22-29/2/2024 , during which 89 violations were issued.
The total number of establishments visited since the beginning of 2024 reached more than 15 thousand establishments, during which approximately 856 violations were issued, while the Ministry received 352 complaints and dealt with them.
Shamali revealed that by monitoring the average prices of 90 basic commodities, the markets witnessed stability in the prices of 55 basic commodities, and a decrease in the prices of 15 other commodities, while the prices of 20 commodities increased by small percentages, for which other alternatives are available in the markets, such as some types of long-grain rice, and some types of chicken and meat; This is due to the high prices in the countries of origin and the high transportation costs.
He stressed the commitment of the civil and military consumer institutions to the decision to stabilize their prices until the end of the holy month of Ramadan, pointing out that the prices of goods in the markets of the two institutions are lower by (6-8%) than their counterparts in the markets.
