Global strategy consulting firm Bain & Company has promoted Dusseldorf-based partner Alexander Schmitz to leader of its Private Equity practice in Europe, Middle East and Africa.
A 21-year veteran of the consulting firm, Alexander Schmitz is a senior member of the Private Equity practice and currently head of the practice in the Germany, Austria and Switzerland region.
He now steps up to take on a regional practice leader role, succeeding Christophe De Vusser, who in July will succeed Manny Maceda as the firm’s Worldwide Managing Partner. Schmitz leads teams in more than 25 countries in the EMEA region.

Since joining Bain & Company in 2003, Schmitz has built extensive experience advising financial and strategic investors globally across the full investment value chain, from deal generation, diligence, and M&A transactions (buy-side and sell-side), to portfolio company value creation and transformation.
In addition, he works with the leadership teams of many of the largest private equity firms and alternative asset managers in the world on fund strategy questions, helping clients ensure their strategies and operations match their ambitions.
In his new role, Schmitz will take on responsibility for further growing the EMEA business, assuming particular focus on business and client development, geographical expansion, as well as talent and practice development.
