B Capital, a global multi-stage investment firm, has on Tuesday announced the close of B Capital Opportunities Fund II, L.P. (Opportunities Fund II) with aggregate capital commitments of $750 million, nearly doubling the size of its predecessor B Capital Opportunities Fund I.

B Capital said in a statement that the fund received strong participation from both existing and new investors and represents a diverse global base of well-known private and public pensions, family offices, high-net worth individuals and sovereign wealth funds.

According to the statement, Opportunities Fund II will make primary and secondary investments in later-stage companies across B Capital’s core sectors of technology, healthcare and climate tech, with a focus on North America and Asia.

The majority of the fund will seek to identify follow-on investment opportunities in existing, high-performing B Capital portfolio companies.

A portion of the fund will also invest in new investment opportunities, where the firm’s value-added capabilities, including its strategic partnership with the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), can have an immediate impact on the companies’ next phase of growth.

“Our strategy is to back great founders early and to support them throughout their entrepreneurial journey,

“We are grateful for our investors, who enable us to continue to support our companies during a time when capital remains scarce,” said Raj Ganguly, Co-founder and Co-Chief Executive Officer at B Capital.

“With our value-add approach, we’re able to help the most innovative entrepreneurs and businesses scale at speed, expand their market reach and build industry-leading brands and companies,” he added.

Eduardo Saverin, Co-founder and Co-Chief Executive Officer at B Capital, said that in this challenging environment for many private tech companies, they are pleased to have nearly doubled the capital they have available to back the best founders in the B Capital portfolio and other entrepreneurs they have closely followed.

“We launched B Capital because of our long-term commitment to supporting founders throughout the company-building lifecycle,

“Our vision is to leverage our technology expertise and that of our strategic partner BCG to take these high-performing companies to the next level,” he added.

It is noted that in June 2023, the fund made its first investment through a secondary purchase in Icertis, a contract intelligence company and existing B Capital portfolio company.

Since first backing Icertis in 2017, B Capital has used its value-add platform to help Icertis connect with other strategic investors, expand into new markets and explore organizational design structures.

“We bring a founder’s mindset and a global business-building perspective to all of our portfolio company investments,”

“Our continued partnership with Icertis exemplifies our differentiated approach to accelerating value creation – from growing a best-in-class team and supporting business development initiatives to providing strategic financial guidance,” said Howard Morgan, General Partner and Chair at B Capital.

B Capital is a multi-stage global investment firm that partners with extraordinary entrepreneurs to shape the future through technology.

With more than $6 billion in assets under management across multiple funds, the firm focuses on seed to late-stage venture growth investments, primarily in the technology, healthcare and climate tech sectors.

Founded in 2015, B Capital leverages an integrated team across nine locations in the United States and Asia, as well as the consulting expertise of its strategic partner, the Boston Consulting Group, to provide the value-added support entrepreneurs need to scale fast and efficiently, expand into new markets and build exceptional companies.
