Australian indie studio Qloud Games is back with its latest progress report for its upcoming mediumly multiplayer title Loftia. Development continues full swing on the solarpunk sandbox game as the dev team shifts its focus to creating a brand-new core quest system and its first adventure.
The quests are being designed with the goal of lead players on a journey to explore the world of sustainable energy. It will also tie in with various in-game activities like community projects, crafting, farming, and player housing. That’s on top of work being done on the game’s energy and weather systems, eco-friendly themed art, a new decoration system, and UI improvements.
The team also revealed that several of their key members have temporarily relocated to San Francisco to participate in Andreessen Horowitz’ SPEEDRUN program. The 10-week startup acceleration program offers coaching and mentorship for budding video game companies as well as a pre-seed investment from the venture capital firm which also goes by the name a16z among crypto circles.
Qloud Games assures the Loftia community that the investment will go directly towards funding the game’s development and that they’ll continue to enjoy complete creative freedom to make it “the best version it can be!”
Closed alpha testing is set to begin later this year with early access launch expected in late 2025.
