Leaders of Bhashani Onusari Parishad, a partner of Ganatantra Mancha, on Tuesday at a protest rally in Dhaka, called on the government to take immediate steps to reduce abnormal price hikes of essential commodities.
Bhashani Onusari Parishad organised the rally in front of the National Press Club where its convener Sheikh Rafiqul Islam Bablu chaired.
Bablu said that the government had failed to control price hikes of the essentials that resulted common people suffering much to run their families.
‘We will continue movements against the government until prices of essential commodities are reduced’, he warned.
Member secretary of the party Abu Yusuf Selim said that the Awami League government was not voted by the people in the last general elections held on January 7.
He called on all the opposition political parties to continue movements until step down of the government from the power.
Central leader of the party Babul Biswas, Habibur Rahman Habib, Ahsan Habib, Sahana Begum and Sonia Akter also spoke at the rally.
The rally was followed by a protest procession that paraded different city roads.
